Monster squash

We finally had some rain last night, which resulted in what I like to think of as Monster Garden. You know where you find the garden about 2 times larger than you left it yesterday. Squash that I was sure would be fine left on the vine one more day became ridiculously huge. Here's what came out of the garden today......
3.7lbs of Zephyr.

To give you an idea of how big the they are.

3lbs. of Zucchini

Another example of the Monster Zuke size.

4lbs. of Straightneck

This is a 1.5 lb. straightneck....

2lbs Mici Cucumber

Even the Cucumbers were monster. Luckily this variety of cucumber is still really good, even Monsterishly Large.

Welp, I'm off to make some chocolate Zucchini Cake.

Any Monster Veggies coming out of your garden?

The Weekend's harvests

What's up with conjuned fruit in the garden?
There's this bizarre straightneck plus 2 Zephyrs are starting to come in like this and there's 2 tomatoes growing together. Strange.

But mutant or not any garden bounty is good garden bounty.
The garden is finally starting to get productive. There's a good mess of pole beans forming and all of the cukes are fruiting, though only the Micis are mature. The tomatoes are getting big and should be ripening up soon. The pepper plants are loaded and I picked the first one (not quite ripe, but early picking will help it produce more). This is a Red Belgian. It's my first time growing these, so we'll see how it goes. I've been itching for some sweet pepper.A few days on the counter and this little guy should be ready.
Now for the rest of the garden goods....

Having been deprived of summer squash and cucumber all winter is sure is nice to have them back!

How's your garden harvests?

Flowering photo heavy garden update

The garden is doing wonderful and finally starting to put out food. Everythng is flowering and a new surprise is discovered everyday out there it seems. So far I've harvested 3 cucumbers which were devoured almost the second they were hastily pulled from the vine, and 1 zephyr squash which was harvested the day I got my new kitchen scale...it was 2oz. exactly. I've also harvested about a pound of lemon basil. I bought lemon basil this year to kind of venture out of the herb "norm" and the moment the little seedlings popped up I knew I had made a good choice. I use it in EVERYTHING; tea, chicken, fish, fruit leather. To me it smells and tastes like Lemon Heads and Fruity Pebbles. And grows like this....
I've learned 4 plants is definitely not enough for my needs.

So now for the photos...

All the eggplants are flowering. Hopefully soon We'll be seeing some signs of fruit.

The cape gooseberries are flowering and when the little yellow flower falls off it turns into this...

Sweet potatoes are looking good.
